I will begin by saying that there are no fish involved in the making of these tissues. At all. (Just thinking about fishy tissues makes me crinkle my nose is disgust. Ewwww.)
"So, why are you calling them Fish Tissues?" you may ask...well, the blame for that falls entirely on Beeba. Let's start at the beginning though, shall we.
I'm the kind of person that despises the summer and loves the winter. Not because of the holidays, but because of the fact that I absolutely despise the heat. (My grandfather jokes that my cooling system is out of whack) With the winter, though, comes getting sick. Asthma + Bad Lungs= chronic asthmatic bronchitis. It's happened every year since I was in the second grade without fail. The asthmatic bronchitis wears down my immune system, and by the time it's gone I have some other illness that has me feeling out of whack for a few weeks.
When I'm sick I go through three things like they're going out of style: Chicken soup, Lemon juice, and tissues. Lots of soup and tissues are involved, though I feel that applies to pretty much everyone. The lemon juice actually goes into my soup, or I take shots of it mixed with honey for my throat. (I tried convincing Scott to do this as well last time he got sick, but he's anti-lemon so it didn't work very well)
This year, however, I decided to get a little creative with the tissues. I was browsing through pinterest and saw a lot of posts about 'aromatherapy tissues', which piqued my interest. They're incredibly easy to make, and smell amazing!

Aromatherapy Tissues
All you need for this is your favorite box of tissues and whichever Essential Oils you want to use. (I personally used Young Living's Eucalyptus Radiata, Lavender and Peppermint.)
1. Carefully, open up the flaps on the bottom or one side of the tissue box. It changes from brand to brand, so they could be in either location. The kleenex box I used had side-flaps.
2. Now, put one drop of an essential oil onto each of the four cardboard flaps. Don't put the oils directly onto the tissues, the scent from the oils will permeate the tissues perfectly fine without needing to saturate them. I put a drop of the eucalyptus on the top and bottom flaps, a drop of lavender on the left flap, and a drop of peppermint onto the right flap.
3. Then, seal it back up! Glue works very well, but when I made my current box while sick at 4 in the morning I used an obnoxious piece of packing tape that says 'YAY!' in blue and purple letters.
Enjoy your tissues! Mine had subtly taken on the scent by the time I woke up the morning after making them.
Oh! and the Fish story. How could I forget. It's a stupid little thing, but it makes me smile. The first time I made them, I was so excited to have Beeb smell them. I told her they were Aromatherapy tissues...and what she called them was probably therapy tissues, but all I heard was 'Fish Tissues.' If it'd happened once I probably would've let it be, but every time she said 'Aromatherapy Tissues' it sounded like she was saying Fish Tissues. Hence the ridiculous name. =)
Wishing everybody a Healthy and happy New Year!
